Been a long time since I have updated this site. I am hoping to get back on track here.
I went to a pretty awesome event last night at For Vancouver, just across the river in Vancouver, WA. It has a lot of history, starting out as a trade post for the Hudosn Bay Company, to final stop at the end of the Oregon Trail and later to a home for troops during all the wars from before the Civil War through at least WWI. There were campout representing the various eras of the fort and it's history outside on the fort grounds, and inside the fort itself, there was a re-enactment of a time when a ship hit ground on the bar at the mouth of the Columbia and a rescue mission was undertaken by the fort residents to save the ship and crew. There were carpenters making boxes, some other folks making bandages, the staff of the infermary preparing medicine, and the metalworkers creating some chain to use ot pull the boat itself. It was quite the event. They even fired an old howitzer for us.
I got a few pictures that I really liked. It was a little bit rainy, but was a pretty good time all around. A lot to see and do, and the air museum was even open to see the cool old planes.
