Weekly Photo #3 - FLOOD!

You would think that living in Portland we'd be used to some rain.  But it turns out that there was a 24 hour period from yesterday evening through this afternoon that was the wettest 24 hour period in December, ever in Portland.  Or something like that, I heard the statistic on TV earlier but never verified it.  The point is that even though we get a lot of rain, everything was pretty saturated and all the streams and rivers rose very rapidly.

I stopped for a pit stop at Multnomah Falls today on my way in from the gorge, as well as to see the amount of water coming down the falls.  I never made it, as the path from the parking lot to the visitor center was flooded and impassable.  So, I snapped a few quick photos and headed on my way.

It was pretty impressive the amount of water that was coming down, especially considering the dry summer that we had, where there was very little at times.  There is even that second falls to the right that I've not seen before and obviously only shows up in these flood situations.
